Making the Most of Conference Trips

Our Aloft team will be in Las Vegas in August and September for appraisal conferences and we’re looking forward to meeting all of you!

Attending a conference can be an exciting opportunity for personal and professional growth. It offers a chance to learn from experts, network with peers, and stay updated on the latest trends in your industry. However, the success of your conference experience often depends on how well you prepare and manage your travel. In this blog, we'll share valuable tips and tricks to enhance your conference journey and ensure you make the most of your time. Additionally, we'll provide links to helpful sites that offer valuable information to streamline your travel planning.

1. Pack Smartly:

Make a checklist of essential items such as conference materials, business cards, chargers, adapters, and personal necessities. Pack light, but don't forget to carry weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes for long periods of standing or walking.

Organize your belongings in a travel-friendly manner, using packing cubes or organizers to keep things easily accessible and neat throughout your trip.

2. Plan Your Conference Schedule:

Review the conference agenda in advance and create a personalized schedule. Use apps like Whova (https://whova.com/) or Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.com/) to access the conference program and plan your sessions and networking events efficiently.

Consider arriving a day early to acclimate yourself to the new surroundings and prevent any last-minute rush.

3. Network Strategically:

Engage with other attendees before the conference through social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, or Facebook. Networking beforehand can lead to more meaningful connections during the event.

During the conference, attend networking sessions, receptions, and after-parties to expand your professional circle. (We’ll be there!)

4. Stay Hydrated and Energized:

Conferences can be exhausting with long days of learning and networking. Carry a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated and keep energy bars or snacks on hand for quick nourishment.

Make time for short breaks between sessions to relax and recharge.

5. Embrace Technology:

Utilize conference apps or online platforms to access event information, session materials, and connect with other attendees.

Use Google Maps or other navigation apps to find your way around the conference venue and explore nearby places of interest.

6. Explore the Destination:

If time permits, extend your stay to explore the city or destination where the conference is held. Research local attractions and plan a day or two of sightseeing.  Websites like TripAdvisor (https://www.tripadvisor.com/) and Lonely Planet (https://www.lonelyplanet.com/) offer valuable insights and travel recommendations for popular destinations.

Happy traveling and learning!
